Journey to the stage

Music has always been my first love, I know that sounds cliche by it is absolutely true, as a child I wasn't one of these "starlets" destined or desperate to be on the stage, I just used to sing, all day, every day, anywhere. I didn't even know I was doing it half of the time. I had a few singing lessons but It wasn't until some friends of mine asked me to sing with their band when I was 15 that I realised how much I loved singing, and being on stage was such a buzz, it awoke something inside me, that's never gone away since.

I did some studio work when I was 18 and started writing some original material, that was when I met Olu Rowe, a fellow singer, an immense talent and a true inspiration. Olu guided me onto the stage, held my hand then set me off on my own Journey.

My Style

People have always been surprised to hear somebody my age singing Motown & Classic soul, Partly due to my age and partly because it's a case of the voice not matching the look- there weren't all that many blue eyed girls from Southampton on Motown's books! The Truth is that I love Soul and Motown, it's what I grew up listening to, it's what I listen to now. I hope that people can see that I do this because I love it and not because some Record company exec thinks it's what is hot right now!

I recorded a show with Channel 4 last year and have done a couple of projects under my Amy Winehouse tribute umbrella. This year I am focusing on Studying towards my CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing as well as mastering Final Cut Video Editing with a view to moving into Marketing Consultancy, So the first half of this year is pretty crazy.

So what's next...

I'm hoping to get back in the studio this year and record some original material.
